Surrounding areas nearby include the world class golf course – Kauri Cliffs (30 minutes), Carrington Club (45 minutes) and Whangaroa Golf Course (5 minutes).

Fabulous beaches, all within 30 minutes drive, are Matauri Bay, Tauranga Bay, Taupo Bay (great surfing when conditions are right) and Coopers Beach / Cable Bay or you may like to enjoy the several safe beaches within the Whangaroa Harbour.
Nearest Airport: Bay of Islands, Kerikeri (35 minutes)

Whangaoa Harbour from Wairakau Track

There are many interesting walks within the area of Whangaroa.  The 5.6km Wairakau Stream walking track begins in Totara North and climbs over a saddle to the spectacular sights of the western arm in the Whangaroa Harbour.

Puketi Forest

The Puketi Forest in the Manginangina Scenic Reserve offers access to a variety of walking tracks.  Stands of magnificent kauri trees are able to be viewed from the 15 minute loop walk and the many other tracks listed by the Department of Conservation.  For the adventurous, Mountain Biking is permitted on several of the old logging roads - The Pirau Ridge (11km) and Mokau Ridge roads.
